This 6'10, 213 pound, 3rd year veteran for the Clippers had a hard time making it up here. Odom began his high school basketball career at Christ The King in Queens, NY. Later, Odom tranferred to Redemption Christian Academy and finally to St. Thomas Aquinas High in Connecticut. After first commiting to UNLV, Odom finally decided he want to be a Rhode Island Ram. At Rhode Island, he averaged 17.6 ppg, 9.4 rpg, and 3.8 apg. Lamar Odom led his Rams past the Temple Owls to win the Atlantic 10 Tournament with a desperate last second three-pointer to clinch the game for Rhode Island. Odom's career high at Rhode Island tallied to 28 points, 15 boards, and 11 assists against George Washington.

Lamar Odom finally applied to the NBA Draft in 99' after a spectacular sophmore year at the University Of Rhode Island. Odom's totals for his last year with the Rams (17.8 ppg, 9.4 rpg, and 3.8 apg) convinced the Los Angeles Clippers enough to pick Lamar Odom 4th overall in 1999 NBA Draft.
